YOUR WORD IS A HUMAN BEING

Merry Christmas folks.

You have heard it said, “Words are powerful.”

Well! That is a massive understatement. And this scripture is responsible for damaging that paradigm.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing made had being. In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not suppressed it…The Word became a human being (flesh) and lived with us, and we saw his Sh’khinah (glory).” [John 1;1-5, 14 CJB]

Consider this thought experiment.

Imagine someone approaches you. This person has not said anything yet. Imagine that she has no voice and she is just an incomplete person – just bones, muscles, and ligaments. Pure biology, no voice, just human with no humanity.

This human is just standing there looking at you. Then you are given an assignment to make those bones live again. But, you are to do it using only words. What would you do? What would you say?

How do you make a human being of that human? How do you cause this human to come alive and truly live up to their full potential? How do you do it with your words only?

Your words are not just powerful. Your word is a human being. Your words are human beings

And here’s the ultimate proof – Continue reading “YOUR WORD IS A HUMAN BEING”

Gifts that Speak

Hello fam –

How are you doing? How was your weekend? Gist me in the comment. I hope all went well. So…bible talks.

I came across an intriguing thought….again! Just like in You Have the Green Light, this thought is also inspired by Father Abraham.

Here’s a brief from Genesis 12.

Abraham left his family, hometown, and birthplace taking his nephew, Lot with him. But they later separated. Some politics went on in the Canaan territory ending up in Lot, his family, and his possession being taken by four Kings who attacked Sodom and Gomorrah.

Abraham was informed of his nephew’s situation. Feeling compassionate, Abram staged an overnight rescue mission. It was successful. He rescued Lot and everything that was taken. Abraham also took the spoils and prisoners of war along with him. The prisoners of war were from the city of Sodom. Genesis 14:1-16 chronicles the showdown if you are interested.

Then King/High Priest Melchizedek and the King of Sodom enter the scene. Their discussion is the center of my intrigue. Both Kings go out to commend Abram for his success.

Abram talks with Melchizedek. Its seems to be a friendly, fulfilled…conversation. We read,

Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, – “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything – Gen 14:20

Following Abram’s discussion with King Melchizedek is an interjection from the King of Sodom. We read:

The King of Sodom said to Abram, “Keep the loot, but give me back all my people” – Gen 14:21

Abram answered,

I solemnly swear before the Lord, the Most High God, Maker of heaven and earth, that I will not keep anything of yours, not even a thread or a sandal strap. Then you can never say, ‘I am the one who made Abram rich.’ I will take nothing for myself. I will accept only what my men have used – Gen 14:22-24

Woo woo woo…!!! Wait a minute.

What happened to the sweet and hospitable Abram? Continue reading “Gifts that Speak”

THE ONLY WAY TO LIVE IN THE 21ST CENTURY

Happy Holidays Happy People,

Christmas is upon us. And I am really excited – for no particular reason. Okay, I expect some good surprises. You know – gifts, family, friends, food, drinks…the usual. And maybe I’ll be lucky enough to kiss a girl under the mistletoe…(Hey, I believe in miracles okay).

Yes! I believe.

B…u…t, my point is – I am excited and fell awkward at the same time. No shame, no gain!

To begin the season (The entire December), here is a christmas carol – Silent Night – sung in the ? – Language. That’s right. There is a language called “?”.

Think I’m kidding? Well, check out this funky fellow sing Silent Night in “?.”  This is the BEST SILENT NIGHT I have listened to – EVER!!! Be sure to share it with family and friends. It makes the atmosphere a little – merrier – yes? Its my own way of sharing the merriness.

A….ny….way!

I have a brief thought to share today.

I heard someone say that a bottle of beer after a days work is a therapeutic. Well, instead of that, you did you one good.

I brought Elvis “back to life” in my little chateau and asked him to set a jazzy mood to relieve you of stress while you read my brief thought.

[Elvis – just for you! Listen and read on]

Folks!

Its the 21st century. The world is already a risky place. You could get pranked by someone who straps a fake bomb on a dog and makes the dog chase you. Your dog could be drugged and stolen in the middle of the night for no reason (Snoopy, my mom’s dog got nicked last week. No joke).

People are going cray-cray out there. (I think they need Jesus!)

Sans the shootings and bombings, there are many uncontrollable variables out there that can make our lives, our dreams, and the fulfillment of our destiny a living hell. But, locking our truest identities in “internal prisons” and marooning ourselves in our “safe spaces” won’t do us any good either.

It is the 21st century alright. The world is already a risky place.

The only way to learn, live, grow, and succeed nowadays is to learn the language of the age. And the first rule to living in a risky world is this – Take risks. This season, do something a tart different for a change. Practice the new language of the age.

For instance –

Dance freely. Salsa with the breeze. Give freely even if you don’t feel the utopia. Travel freely on the byways and highways.  Love relentlessly. Forgive quickly. Reconcile immediately. You’ve got imagination – employ it. Each moment is a treasure – enjoy it.

Voila!

Success – whatever that means to you – is the destination. Lifelong learning is the journey. Risk is the vehicle.

That’s why –

img_1309

I am going to kiss a sweet and fancy mademoiselle under the mistletoe (Oui). If you are a fine dame reading this, assume I will claim plausible deniability for writing this post if it turns out to be you (Hahaha).

Seriously though!

Take risks…! As my friend, Louis would say –

Life is too short to be boring.

And as you practice taking risks this season, think of this song by K.T Tunsall. It’ll help you have fun while as you play “real life do or dare.” It will make your bloopers and awkward moments seem a little cheek.

So let me remind you –

Life is not full of surprises – YOU ARE.

So, take risks!

I hope you enjoyed my attempt at making you laugh. If not, I’ll do better next time. But, I hope you enjoyed the songs and the brief thought. Thank you for reading my posts. Your likes, comments, and encouragement mean a lot to me. Thanks again. I love you guys.

Gifts that Keep On Giving

Phew…what a crazy week!

I just got back home from Christmas shopping and….boy…let…me…tell you! It was cray-cray at the mall, y’all. The mall was packed and the lines were just unbelievable. I am thankful I got a few things though.

(Between…I will make it rain socks on christmas day lol. But…)

For me, its not about the gifts. The best gift is the experience that created around the gift and the funkiness that stains the recipient of set gift. For our loved ones, our helpers, our encouragers, friends…taking time to craft a a whole scene around a simple gift is worth it.

So, I wish to share some of the gifts I received this year and then share some thoughts that these gifts remind me of. So, here we go.

Meet Louis

img_1313

Louis and I grew up and went to school in Africa where we became classmates. Then in high school, we were bench mates, but we were never close. Fast forward 8 years later when we reconnected in Minnesota.

img_0577

Over time, we have become close friends. Turns out we share similar values, passions, thoughts. And not long after our Minnesota meeting, Louis created a groundbreaking program –  Threelly – that has the potential to literally transform how we watch videos and interact with ideas. I have had the opportunity to partner and work with him on this. Needless to say we have seen God open up doors we could not have dreamed of.

The opportunity is all good. The adventures and miracles have been wonderful. But, I think I figured it out. It was Louis! Louis was the gift – God’s gift to me. A friend who empowers, encourages, cherishes, celebrates, and challenges me. And this gift keeps on giving. I see it now.

My grandma is over a century old now. She sent me off to the West with this blessing –

Love all people. Respect all people. And be each other’s keeper…

See folks!

When you pray for help, miracles, etc…, God will send people. People are the best miracles. But, if you don’t love them, they will leave you without releasing or before realizing they were to supposed to release what you prayed for.

That’s why grandma in hindsight emphasized  – Love all people my son. Respect all people. And I see Louis and so many others as a gift that results from me walking in granny’s counsel. Thank you Louis – for everything!

Now! Meet mi familia.

img_0291-1

These are my people, my tribe, my friends, my pride, my joy….my jewel. You know you are moving to the next level of your destiny when God brings folks like these into your life (See the post – A New Measure).

Gauge every new level of success by the quality and quantity of your relationships each time you graduate a one destiny class and move on to the next.

Time would fail me to tell you how we met (just over 3 months ago) and the miracles that have happened since. We have traversed California, hiking, praying, dancing to salsa, eating, innovating, working, planning…and doing great things. We have shared stories, struggles, concerns…and become very close. They are a huge blessing to me. I hope I am to them.

See folks! I believe in miracles. Miracles happen. Ask Miracle Yello – BBB. But, what I have discovered is this –

Yes, Miracles happen. However, a lot more miracles tend to happen when you are in community.

Thank you God for these gifts that just cannot stop giving. Baruch Hashem!

Then –

There is YOU!

Yes – YOU – reading this post right now. You are THE MAIN ATTRACTION.

Its not by chance. Its not a coincidence that you either followed, read, or liked something I wrote. And its not a coincidence that it led me to you and what you wrote. You too have blessed and inspired me.

Thank you for reading, liking, and even commenting on my blog. Its a big deal to me. I am not sure if what I share with you is helpful. I am just glad to be able to do it and have the opportunity to connect with you creative geniuses who have been touched and inspired by the the Spirit of the Almighty.

I would like to have tea/coffee with you all whenever if that’s possible. Meeting and connecting with folks like you is my passion. I hope you would indulge me.

thanks
